Hours, service, and policies

The gardens are open to visitors every day from sunrise till sunset. There is no admission charge, but donations are appreciated. Please obtain a visitor parking pass online here (nominal fee) or use the metered parking near the UDairy Creamery. Click here for directions to the UDBG.

Accessibilty: UDBG's paths are primarily mowed grass paths, with the exception of the paved path in the Herbaceous Garden and the pathway to the Trial Garden. Restrooms are located off of The Commons in Townsend Hall (closed on weekends) or in the Fred Rust Ice Arena. UD closes the week between December 23 and January 2.

Etiquette in the Gardens:

  • Enjoy the plants without disturbing them
  • No barbecues
  • Picnicking only with permission
  • No bikes or skateboards
  • No smoking
  • Please clean up after your pets
  • Leash your dog at all times
  • Respect the quiet of others

Weddings and Receptions: The College of Agriculture & Natural Resources does not permit weddings or receptions in the garden. University of Delaware at Goodstay Gardens in Newark features a conference center for both receptions and weddings.

Group Tours

Guided tours of the garden are available for groups of 10 or more. Our staff will work with you to provide a memorable experience, whether you are seeking to gain horticultural knowledge or want to see flowering plants.
