Come join the UDBG’s expanding volunteer corps! There’s a place for people with all kinds of talent, skills, and interests. Volunteers play a crucial role in all UDBG activities. Volunteering at the UDBG is a great way to interact with fellow plant lovers in pleasant surroundings, and to expand your gardening knowledge.

Look over the list below of volunteer opportunities to decide what interests you. Then fill out our online application form or you may download and print a volunteer application (pdf). Volunteer Opportunities

Garden Projects/Maintenance
Assist in maintaining and beautifying the gardens. Volunteers will participate in plant and garden maintenance, and project installation.

Nursery and Greenhouse Maintenance
Propagate plants from seeds and cuttings, and help grow plants in the nursery & greenhouse.

Office Administration
Work with staff to enter info into databases, assist with the newsletter, mailings, and special event preparation.

Plant Research & Record Keeping
Assist staff in maintenance of plant database. Volunteers will research plant names, produce plant labels, and create plant picture labels.

Plant Sales
Assist in the coordination and staffing of the annual plant sales. Prior to the sale, jobs include plant preparation, pre-order fills, and set-up. On the sale days, volunteers serve as cashiers, provide customer assistance, and help transport and load plants.

Special Events
Staff information and registration tables at lectures, host art shows, hand out program and support materials, and more.
