The University of Delaware Chemical Hygiene Plan was developed to protect University laboratory employees from the health hazards which may be present in the laboratory environment. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration required the University to develop a written Chemical Hygiene Plan to ensure that laboratories operate in compliance with the standard.

The University of Delaware Chemical Hygiene Plan requires all individuals covered under the plan to receive annual training. This training is the responsibility of the supervisor and can be provided by the Department Chemical Hygiene Officers or group training may be arranged through the Department of Occupational Health and Safety. A training certification form must be on file at the Department of Occupational Health and Safety for all laboratory personnel.
