CONSIDERATIONS: If any of the following are
being used in the lab, notify DOHS at x8475. Acutely toxic
chemicals Animals Bloodborne
pathogens Carcinogens Heavy metals Infectious Agents Lasers PCBs Pesticides Recombinant DNA Reproductive
hazards Hood used for work with
carcinogens/mutagens and not always labelled
effectively. At present time, most users will leave
a note as to who to contact for questions.
COMMENTS: This lab because it is a common area is very difficult to monitor and asses for safety concerns. Obviously there are numerous problems that need to be attended to, but I'm not sure who to address my concerns to. Many of the machines have complicated systems and most people have not been directed about their uses or safe practices/handling.
Emergency posting needed.
No shower.
Biohazardous waste is being left in the room after autoclaving- this should be disposed of in 308.
*Major concern: we need someone to enforce safety regulations for this lab - to clean it up periodically and be responsible for problems which may occur (or devise some scheme to involve every lab who uses the room in maintaining the room).
