Texting While Driving

cell phone

Cell phones are everywhere. They are now a part of everyday life and they are a helpful accessory for day to day transactions. But with progress comes dangers.

Teenagers and young adults especially, are seldom seen without cellphones as texting between friends is growing in popularity. Unfortunately their use extends to driving.

As communities, local governments, and states re-evaluate texting while driving laws, some organizations are taking extradordinary measures to warn drivers about the dangers of texting while driving.   Take a look at this INTERACTIVE MAP which displays current state laws.

The video below, (also viewable by clicking the link at the end of this paragraph), is one such Public Service Announcement that was recently created in the United Kingdom. WARNING!!!  The video is graphic in nature. Its airing in the UK is controversial, but it has quickly been spread across the United States in emails and on YouTube. Although the content is disturbing, the realities of such an accident, which can happen in a split second, is far more disturbing and permanant. It is our hope that this video will be viewed as a family, with discussions among family members afterward.
