Welcome to the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension Traffic Safety Web site! It is our objective to educate the public on a variety of raffic safety topics including impaired driving, occupant protection, pedestrian safety, aggressive driving, distracted driving and motorcycle safety.

In 2009, Delaware experienced the loss of 117 people due to traffic crashes. We can elimiate the useless loss of life by following basic traffic safety laws such as wearing a seat belt and not drinking and driving. To help reduce traffic injuries and fatalities, we use several tools such as an impaired driving simulator (SIDNE), the Fatal Vision goggles, power point presentations, display tables, traffic safety relays, and the coordination of safety fairs. In addition, we work closely with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety to spread the safety message to businesses, schools and state agencies. Past partnerships have included Pepsi, Fed Ex, Walmart, DelDOT, DMV, the Starboard, The Green Turtle, Lewes Auto Mall, Seaford Senior High School, Delmar Senior High School, Frankford Elemetary School, Central Middle School, Delaware State University, Dover Air Force Base, Cape Henlopen State Park, Gary's Bar and Grill, Mr. Go Glass and many more!

If you are interested in promoting traffic safety within your community, please contact Mike Love at 856-2585 ext 583.
