The University of Delaware Cooperative Extension Educators in Family Consumer Science offers professional continuting education credits for  child care providers, in compliance with State of Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL). 

In Sussex County, Child Care Provider workshops are offered once a month (except August) at the Carvel facility. Unless otherwise noted, all classes begin at 6:30 p.m. and last two hours. Please visit our main page to view the bulding and obtain detailed directions to the Carvel Research & Education Center.

Title: Safety Resources Date: Wednesday, Sept. 9 Time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Cost: $10      Credit: 2 Clock Hrs Description: Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death & disability among children. This session will introduce you to resources availbe to assist in safety education efforts. Printed & online resources will be availabe as well as local programs wil be included. Core Topic: Health and Safety Title: Delaware Dine Safe Date: Thursday, Sept. 10 Time: 1-4 p.m. Cost: $25      Credit: 3 Clock Hrs. Increase your knowledge of safe food handling practices. Core Topic: Health	Title: Emergency Preparedness Date: Wednesday, Oct. 7 Time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Cost: $10      Credit: 2 Clock Hrs Description: This workshop will cover important information regarding developing an emergency plan. Checklists and other supporting information will be provided. This is a repeat of the workshop offered February 2008. Core Topic: Health and Safety	Title: Behavior Management Tips Date: Wednesday, Nov. 18 Time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Cost: $10     Credit: 2 Clock Hrs Description:As frustrating as it may be, it is entirely normal for children to test limits and engage in behavior that might be considered inappropriate.  How you respond depends on a number of factors, including child’s age, developmental stage, personality and temperament. Core Topic: Positive Behavior Management:	Title: Making the Most of Your Money Date: Wednesday, Dec. 9 Time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Cost: $10     Credit: 2 Clock Hrs Description: Which expenses can I deduct? How do I calculate my time-space percentage? Which items do I depreciate? If these are questions you often asked yourself, come and learn the answers.
