High School Landscape Design Camp

Photo Gallery PHOTO GALLERY

As an artist works in oils or pastels on canvas or paper, a landscape designer uses elements of color, texture, and design to create expressions of art in our natural world.  A true blend of art and science, landscape design is a field that cultivates creativity as we shape, color, and conserve the environment around us.

This summer, the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Delaware will sponsor, for the second year in a row, a unique educational experience for students who wish to apply their artistic interests in the area of landscape design.  The Landscape Design Camp, offered for high school students who have completed grades 9, 10, or 11, will be held at the University of Delaware from June 16th through June 18th.

During their time on campus, campers will participate in a variety of workshops, activities, and field trips to explore and experience the world of landscape design.   Sample events will include design projects, plant searches in the White Clay Creek Preserve, and an insider’s look at Longwood Gardens and other gardens and natural areas.
