My Program at the University of Delaware:

I am an Extension Specialist in the area of Nutrient Management and Soil Fertility. My main responsibilities and interests are to conduct adult education programs that focus on the relationship between nutrient management and the potential impact of this management on water quality. Most recently, along with Dr. David Hansen, I have been responsible for the development and teaching of the nutrient management training program that has provided nutrient management certifications for more than 2,000 individuals throughout Delaware. Since January of 2001, we have developed 12 separate training modules and taught more than 200 three-hour training sessions.

In addition to the adult education programs, I conduct research and demonstrations projects in the area of nutrient management and soil fertility. These projects involve the following areas: poultry litter management, nitrogen management, soil testing, plant analyses, phosphorus management, starter fertilizer use in corn, remote sensing, PSNT variability and use in high-yielding corn, polymer-coated urea, poultry litter use on golf courses, water quality monitoring on golf courses, and nutrient removal from soils by Delaware crops.
