2005 Summer Field Trips

During the summer of 2005, the five first year Longwood Graduate Fellows embarked on several journeys to regional gardens including: The Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania, The Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College, Chanticleer. a pleasure garden, and Brookside Gardens. The Fellows included Abby Hird, Sonya Lepper, Cate Prestowitz, Casey Sharber, and Aaron Steil, with Longwood Gardens Intern Erin Regan as a special guest. Each trip proved enjoyable and informative to each of us as future leaders in public horticulture. The following is a brief summary of our experiences gained by walking the grounds and speaking with directors and other staff at each organization. Please note that these are our impressions and are just a taste of the wonder each institution holds within its walls. I hope that it captures the "essence" of the garden without telling the whole story. Enjoy.
