First Year Fellows Matthew Quirey and Dan Burcham traveled to Boston, Massachusetts for the American Public Garden Association's Plant Collections Symposium from October 3 - 5, 2007. The two-day symposium focused on planning and developing plant collections policies, mapping and labeling techniques, and data management systems. Mount Auburn Cemetery and the Arnold Arboretum both supported the event by providing staff experts and opening their institutions for both tours and lectures. It was a great time to meet several professionals in the field and discuss current collections issues.
