Title: Environmental Air Quality (2 assistantships available)

Summary: Drs. Benson and Ritter are currently seeking for two masters degree candidates. Drs. Benson and Ritter are conducting an air quality project. This project seeks to provide information on the PM2.5 and PM10 emissions from a typical commercial poultry house and relate the changes in the emissions to activity within the poultry house.
 
Requirements: As part of this USDA NRI sponsored project, there are two funded two year masters degree research assistantships available.The NRI assistantships include a stipend of approximately $22,500 per year and include a tuition waiver. For additional information, contact Dr. Benson.

Title: USDA National Needs Fellowships

Summary: The ultimate goal of this proposed project is to help train these fellows to become leaders and experts in the areas of food safety and emerging food processing and preservation technologies. This proposal primarily addresses USDA/CSREES Strategic Goal 1 (Enhance International Competitiveness of American Agriculture) and Goal 4 (Enhance Protection and Safety of the Nation's Agriculture and Food Supply).
 
Requirements: Candidates having B.S. degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. U.S. citizenship (required). Candidates from under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. Selection is based on excellence. College requirements for acceptance are GRE scores (verbal + quantity) at or greater than 1100, GPA at or greater than 3.0, and strong letters of recommendation. Applications will be accepted until suitable candidates are found.

Title: Wetlands and Watersheds Research Assistantship

Summary: A research assistantship is available for a PhD candidate on a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project. The project investigates the transport and fate of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in watersheds and the controls of wetlands and riparian ecosystems. The research assistantship provides for an annual stipend along with a tuition waiver and is available for a period of three years. Interested students can apply through the departments of Plant and Soil Sciences, Geology or Civil Engineering.
 
Requirements: Students should have a strong background in watershed hydrology and biogeochemistry (or water quality).
