"Stop Aggressive Driving" Campaign Nets 364 More Citations 

Dover - Delaware law enforcement officers are continuing their efforts to "Stop Aggressive Driving" on First State roadways by issuing 364 citations for aggressive driving behaviors last week during the safety initiative. This brings the campaign total for aggressive driving-related citations to 1,870.

Officers also issued 108citations to unbelted, unlicensed, and uninsured motorists who were stopped for aggressive driving behaviors last week to bring the total number of citations for last week to 472.

The following is a breakdown of the number of violations found during the second week of aggressive driving enforcement: 12 Aggressive Driving, 279 speeding, 24 unsafe lane changes, 10 following too closely, 15 running stop signs and stop lights, and 24 passing on the shoulder.

Office of Highway Safety officials launched the "Stop Aggressive Driving" campaign Wednesday July 13 th . Fatal crash data shows that aggressive driving behaviors are currently responsible for 61% (52) of Delaware's 86 fatal crashes since the beginning of this year. The campaign is a statewide initiative that will continue through December. In all, 12 State and local police agencies with high crash locations in their jurisdictions that are statistically identified as being aggressive driving related, have been provided with federal grant funding to conduct overtime patrols.
