Sub-goal 2.2: To build the capacity of youth to become capable citizens and community members.
- Objective 2.2.1 Youth in moderate and high-risk communities will participate in Extension sponsored programs that will result in them acquiring decision-making skills, coping skills and leadership skills needed to thrive in the 21st century:
Participants will report gaining skills in communication, decision making, leadership development, dealing with stress, conflict resolution, crime and violence prevention and adolescent health issues, especially pregnancy prevention as well as in managing relationships and serving the community.
New leadership programs will be developed in communities where these programs do not currently exist.
Sub-goal 2.3:
- To develop the capacity of individuals and families to build safe, caring communities.
- Objective 2.3.1: To educate youth and adults to prevent traffic-related bicycle and pedestrian injuries.
- Objective 2.3.2: To increase awareness and proper use of occupant protection systems.
- Objective 2.3.3: To conduct educational programs to reduce alcohol-related traffic crashes and injuries.
- Objective 2.3.4: To conduct educational programs to reduce unintentional injuries in farms and homes.
