Nutrition & Food Safety

GOAL 1: Healthy, well-nourished children, youth and adults.

Objective 1.1: People will adopt lifestyle practices that promote optimal health.
Objective 1.2: People will understand the relationship between health practices (especially diet) and chronic diseases of heart disease, hypertension, cancer and osteoporosis and will adopt health practices and dietary patterns that protect against these illnesses.
Objective 1.3: People will be able to manage their food resources (money, WIC vouchers, food stamps, etc.) to meet their basic nutritional needs.

GOAL 2: Improve food safety by controlling or eliminating food-borne risks.

Objective 2.1: Participants will increase their adoption of recommended food handling practices.
Objective 2.2: Food producers/processors will improve practices and processes that promote the production and protection of the food supply with minimal health risks.
Objective 2.3: Consumers will improve their understanding of risks and responsible practices in relation to the safety of the food supply.
