Maintaining Viable Agriculture

GOAL: To provide educational programming that will allow NCC agricultural producers and related individuals to enhance basic life skills, on a continuing basis, and to utilize the most advanced production and marketing information and advances in technology to remain productive and economically viable in a supportive community.

Sub-goal 1: To enhance producers’s understanding of the importance and the processes of decision-making and management.
- Objective 1.1: Agricultural families will receive training enabling them to establish/evaluate both short and long term goals, plan for success and implement their plans.
Sub-goal 2: To improve and increase the understanding of sound production practices and new and emerging technologies to maximize production, competitiveness, profitability and both environmental and personal safety.
- Objective 2.1: Producers will enhance profitability and safety through the adoption of sound production practices and new technology.
Sub-goal 3: To explore alternative cropping enterprises in a changing agricultural landscape.
- Objective 3.1: Current and potential agricultural producers will be exposed to possible alternative crops, the processes for evaluating participation and guidelines for success.
Sub-goal 4: To educate the non-farm public of the importance/relevance of agriculture.
- Objective 4.1: The general non-farm public will become more aware of the relevance of agriculture to their everyday lives and therefore more supportive of the industry and more informed on land use issues.
