Field trips are meant to give the puppies experience with the sights, smells and sounds of the types of places they will lead their masters. Examples include shopping malls, movie theaters, libraries, sporting events, community events, parks, museums and nursing homes. Club RecognitionMembers of the club have received such awards as the Presidential Service Award. In 2004 we received the 4-H Community Service Award, and in 2005 the Governor's Service Award. Other members, as high school seniors, have also earned college scholarships for raising two or more puppies. History and ProjectsThe club has raised puppies as a joint effort with Seeing Eye, Inc. of Morristown, New Jersey since 1942— thousands over the years! Once the puppies leave their 4-H homes, they return to Seeing Eye, Inc. to receive intensive training for final placement with blind persons throughout the U.S. and Canada. Although the overall project of the club is to raise puppies, club members may also work on other 4-H projects that interest them.
