Family and Consumer Sciences

     The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) program provides research-based information about the following subjects: family and financial management; food and nutrition, food preservation, and human development topics (e.g., parenting, stress management, youth development).  

     Each year, FCS provides classes and speaking engagements to county residents.  Topics of recent workshops include; Food Safety for volunteers, consumers, and food service workers, Boning Up on Calcium, Food Guide Pyramid, How to Read a Food Label, Weight Control, ServSafe, Family Strengthening parenting and youth program and Budgeting. The Food Safety and Nutrition workshops are approved for child care providers credit.
