Marian MacDonald Inducted into National 4-H Hall of Fame

Marian MacDonald, of Camden, Del., was honored for her contributions to the 4-H youth development movement with induction into the National 4-H Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Md. She was inducted along with 19 other laureates for the impact she has made on 4-H and the lives of Delaware 4-H members.

“Marian MacDonald is a favorite of many 4-Hers, 4-H alumni, and 4-H volunteers throughout the state,” says Joy G. Sparks, state 4-H leader.  “She has positively influenced the lives of so many.”

MacDonald served as the Kent County 4-H agent for 31 years, retiring in 1984.  Under her leadership and guidance, the Kent 4-H program grew and offered many new experiences and opportunities to youth to help them develop life skills. In retirement, she volunteers for 4-H, the Delaware State Fair and the Soroptomists.

“This year’s National 4-H Hall of Fame laureates have impacted millions of 4-H youth, leading by example with their passion, dedication and creativity. They are helping to build strong leaders and citizens,” says Lisa Lauxman, president of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents.

MacDonald was nominated by the 4-H program in Delaware. 4-H is a community of more than six and a half million young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. For more info about Delaware 4-H, call 302-831-2509.
