2011 Entertainment Schedule

Entertainment/Music Stage (south end of rear parking lot)

10-11am   DJ Dolamarx This nationally touring DJ will play a mix of oldies, motown, rock and pop at the opening of Ag Day and in between sets througout the day
11-11:40am   Tater Patch A folk music group that includes CANR's own Dr. Judy Hough-Goldstein, professor in CANR's Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology
11:45am-12:15pm   Ribbon Cutting Ribbon cutting ceremony for the UDairy Creamery
12:15-1pm   Dodging Cupid A classic rock and roll band from the Delaware Valley, featuring Dr. Tom Ilvento, chair of CANR's Department of Food and Resource Economics
1:15-2pm   The Hook A modern and alternative rock group whose band members include Dr. Greg Shriver and Vince D'Amico of  CANR's Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology
2:15-3pm    The Racket Boys A student band with rock, hip-hop and funk styles
3:15-4pm   The Common Room A student band with reggae, rock and acoustic styles

Education Stage (front lawn of Townsend Hall)

10:30-11:00am   Plant Sale Highlights Bob Lyons, director of UD's Longwood Graduate Program will give highlights of the University of Delaware Botanic Gardens plant sale, focusing on native species.
11:15-11:45am   Phung Luu, bird trainer UD ag alumnus Phung Luu, a bird trainer who has worked with many US zoos in free-flight demonstrations and behavior consultations, will demonstrate training strategies for pets in a “How to Train Your Chicken” segment.
11:45am-12:15pm   Ribbon cutting Please direct your attention to the Entertainment/Music stage for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the UDairy Creamery
12:30-1:00pm   Dr. Deborah Delaney, bee keeper demo UD professor, Dr. Deborah Delaney will demonstrate some daily routines of a bee keeper, showing individual parts of a bee colony and the different types of bees that inhabit it.
1:15- 2:00pm   Phung Luu, free-flight demo with birds of prey Phung Luu will give a free-flight demonstration with birds of prey, including owls and falcons. Please direct your attention to the live bird area behind the greenhouses in back of Townsend Hall.
2:30-3:00pm   Sheep shearing Watch as UD Farm employees give a sheep shearing demonstration and learn more about wool and sheep production.
3:15-3:45pm   Brian Kunkel, Talk on "Invasion of Insects" UD Cooperative Extension entomologist, Brian Kunkel, will talk about the invasion of stink bugs and other pests found around homes on trees and shrubs, and talk about the benefits of beetles, praying mantids and honey bees.
