Recorded hosts

Eumetopina flava - Sugarcane

Economic Importance:

Eumetopina flava is the " island sugarcane planthopper" and the vector of Ramu stunt disease in sugarcane.  There have been extensive efforts to keep this species out of Australia and New Zealand.

Recognition

For Eumetopina flava, see also images of this species at PaDIL (Pests and Diseases Image Library, Australia).  This species (and the members of this genus) are strongly flattened unlike any North American delphacid, and their general appearance is also unlike any North American delphacid species.

Molecular resources

At this time, neither Genbank or Bold have any molecular resources for this genus; however Urban et al. (2010) sequenced 18S rDNA, 28S rDNA, wingless, and cytochrome oxidase I of Eumetopina flavipes for their analyses.
