Identifying insects is a process in which one goes about collecting information on an insect, reviewing the information in comparison to other field notes and delivering a verdict on what the insect in question is.

Delphacids planthoppers are insects related to leafhoppers, treehoppers, spittlebugs and cicadas.  Most species are between 2-4 mm in size. Most species are grass-feeders, although some feed on broad-leaved plants, especially those in the aster family.
