Biological Control of Invasive Plants Research
Research themes include understanding plant-insect interactions, the behavior and impact of natural enemy populations and communities, and differences between native and non-native plants. Our lab was the first to test and obtain a permit to release a biological control agent of mile-a-minute weed, Persicaria perfoliata (formerly known as Polygonum perfoliatum), and we are currently assessing its effectiveness. Additional projects in the lab seek biocontrol agents for kudzu; and methods to enhance currently available agents for purple loosestrife.
