Oct. 2002:  New USGS point-and-click “WaterWatch” website is found at http://water.usgs.gov/waterwatch/ providing instantaneous data on the entire nation’s current streamflow conditions in near real time. High flood-flows and low drought-flows are depicted on maps with color-coded representing conditions at about 3,000 streamgages. More information on the variety of information available on the site.  

 

Oct. 2002:  USGS Findings:  Six articles highlighting findings from the first decade of studies conducted by the USGS National Water Quality Assessment Program (NAWQA) are found in the AWRA’s “IMPACT” (July 2002, Vol.4, No.4) online at http://www.awra.org/impact/index.html (caution: large 3MB .pdf file), or print version in limited numbers available from tlmiller@usgs.gov. Sept. 2002: Nutrient Best Management Practices booklets available online: The Delaware Nutrient Management Commission (DNMC) is currently distributing these providing a list and description of fifty-three different best management practices (BMPs).  The BMPs help protect the environment and maintain profitable agriculture.  One of the following offices may also be contacted to receive a copy: Delaware Nutrient Management (302) 698-4500; New Castle Conservation District  (302) 832-3100; Kent Conservation District (302) 730-4000; or  Sussex Conservation District (302) 856-3990.

Sept. 2002: New bibliography and Spanish website from the Water Quality Information Center at the National Agricultural Library.  The WQIC has compiled a new bibliography titled "Water Allocation and Drought (II)." 

Other drought-related resources from the center include an earlier version of the bibliography,

Drought and Water Allocation," and a "Drought and Weather" Web page.

The library has recently created a Web page with annotated links in Spanish titled

"Información en Español Sobre Agua" (Spanish Language Information about Water Resources).
