On Thursday, August 13th "An Evening in the Garden, a fundraising event for the Food Bank of Delaware, took place on the lawn of the Wilson Farmhouse overlooking the Garden for the Community.

Those who attended enjoyed garden-fresh foods prepared by the Culinary School of the Food Bank of Delaware under the direction of Executive Chef, Noah Mathay.  (To view his menu, click here)   Live entertainment came from Dodging Cupid, a group of classic rockers including our own Dr. Tom Ilvento.  Other highlights included Garden tours, guest speakers, a raffle and a book signing with Deborah Brenner, UD alumna and author of Women of the Vine.  Wine tasting was provided by Women of the Vine Cellars along with Paradocx Vineyard , a local Chester Co. winery.  Food that was not able to be provided from the Garden for the Community was generously donated by Fifer Orchards.

The Food Bank of Delaware tells us that together we raised about $4000 (or enough to provide 12,000 meals to hungry Delawareans) along with five drums of non-perishables donated by those attending the event.

Many thanks to those who attended this fabulous event and our deepest gratitude to those businesses and groups who helped make this such a successful night!
