Career
Paths
When
exploring careers, one thing to keep in mind is that
you never know what opportunities lay ahead. Keep your
options open, and don’t be afraid to explore a
new opportunity. The path to the perfect career is not
always clearly defined.
No
matter which path you choose, enjoying what you learn,
gaining practical experience, and making valuable connections
are imperative to your success. During your undergraduate
education, explore a variety of experiences through
internships, research experience, and extracurricular
activities. Use your academic advisor as a valuable
resource, talk to your professors, and find a faculty
mentor. At some point, you will need to ask people to
write you letters of recommendation. Whoever you ask
should know you well and be able to speak highly of
you. By gaining diverse experiences and making connections,
you will make yourself more marketable in today’s
highly competitive world of work. |
