Career
Exploration
Though
some people know exactly what they want to do with their
lives after graduating from college, most students explore
a variety of options before settling on the right career.
Career exploration is a combination of learning about
yourself and the world of work, while gaining practical
and valuable experiences. To decide which major or career
path to choose, it is helpful to recognize your interests,
strengths, and weaknesses. If your personality clashes
with the type of work you will be doing in a certain
field, you may not be happy or successful. The most
important thing to keep in mind when choosing a major
and a career is to choose something that interests and
excites you!
If
you need assistance identifying or narrowing down your
interests and abilities, you can make an appointment
with the Center
for Counseling & Student Development. Once you
have chosen a potential career path, the center’s
career library provides valuable resources to explore
various paths. |
