Alumni play
an important role in recruiting new students to the College of Agriculture
and Natural Resources. You are a valuable resource to prospective students
and their families, as you explain your experience at UD and the career
path you have followed. There are many ways you can help. To learn more
and to volunteer, please read on. Thank you for your support of UD’s
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Discovery Days
Delaware
Discovery Days is UD’s biggest recruitment event of the year,
at which rising HS seniors and their parents visit campus to see what
majors and opportunities we offer. Each of our College's departments--and
in some cases, majors--has a table, where faculty will be talking with
the guests. Having alumni participation at these tables is invaluable,
as families are eager to hear firsthand about career opportunities.
If you
are willing to assist in staffing your major's table on any of the Discovery
Days, please Email kra@udel.edu with
the dates you are available. A confirmation will be sent the week before
the scheduled date.
Other
Opportunities
Anything
is possible. If you have an idea on how to help us attract students,
please email kra@udel.edu.
Some
thoughts…
1. Write or call admitted students. We’ll handle
the logistics; we just need your words, your name and your position
to help convince students that a major in Agriculture and Natural Resources
is a stepping stone to a bright future. Let us know if you’d be
willing to do this in the spring.
2. Bring
students to campus. Load up your daughter and her friends,
organize a field trip for a class at a local school, or escort a neighbor
to Newark for the day. We’ll set up an informative and enjoyable
visit, including a campus tour, a College of Ag tour, meetings with
students and faculty, and even lunch in the dining hall! Just call or
Email…we’ll set it up year round.
3. Referrals.
Anytime you meet someone who might be a candidate for our College, please
contact us. We will follow up with the student, send them information,
and invite them to campus. Many of our current students are here only
because of the guidance they received from alumni.
