Tell us about your current position or program of study and what led you to that field.
I am a professor and unit director at the University of Georgia, studying the evolution and improvement of major crops through genome analysis.
How did your College of Ag experiences prepare you for your current job or post-graduate education?
The guidance of experienced mentors and taking a broad and deep set of strong courses were each key elements in positioning me for the next step of gaining my Ph.D.
What advice do you have for students interested in your field?
A healthy balance of ag-related, bio-medical, and computational curricula are needed to prepare you for post-graduate success in this field today.
